MANILA, Philippines -- Filipino women journalists face more physical than online intimidation, harassment and abuse. It is an experience encountered so frequently that it is seen as an expected part of their jobs. This is from a research to capture a snapshot of current-day female journalists, and which surveyed 129 practitioners online from May 2 to July 15, 2024.
The findings was among those shared during the Asian Women Journalists for Media Freedom regional conference at the Ateneo Aug. 8, 2025 by Dr Christine Cox, chair of the Department of Communication. READ MORE>>

The Indian journalist Syed Nazakat has been elected chair of the Asian Center for Journalism in a meeting of the board on May 28, 2025. He takes over from veteran journalist Jaime Florcruz who is currently serving as Philippine ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.
Also named to the ACFJ board are the Indonesian academic Dr. Nurul Hasfi, and Filipino journalist Arlene Burgos who is also ACFJ’s new executive director. READ MORE>>
