To further strengthen the training of multimedia reporters in Mindanao, members of the Panglantaw Mindanao team crystallized their goals and plans for 2013 through a visioning and planning workshop at Lishper Inn, Davao City, March 18-19.
Thirteen journalists composed of junior and senior executives in print, broadcast and multimedia organizations as well as from the civil society group Mindanao People’s Peace Movement, participated in the workshop.
The highlights of the two-day session were the creation of a mission-vision statement, environment scanning, setting of 2013 goals and commitments, and crafting of ways of working. The proposed vision for Panglantaw Mindanao states “To be the leading provider of quality and credible stories on relevant issues in Mindanao and its people.”
Cezar Bagadion, lead officer for strategic learning and organization development solutions at Verite Southeast Asia, facilitated the workshop.
Based in Davao City, Panglantaw Mindanao is the action research project of ACFJ under the Press Freedom 2.0 program. It aims to bring together Mindanao photojournalists to report on Mindanao issues using multimedia. Their stories are open for publishing in the mainstream media.
