Sara Dutere is constantly in the news in the Philippines these days not only because she is First Daughter to a controversial President. She is also mayor of Davao City where her father, former mayor Rodrigo Duterte, ruled for more than 20 years.
A mother of three and wife to fellow lawyer Manases Carpio, Sara had been vice mayor to her father for three years from 2007 to 2010.
In 2008, Vice Mayor Sara Duterte became one of the subjects of Davao-based photojournalist Rene Lumawag who was then enrolled in the Diploma in Photojournalism program of the Ateneo’s Asian Center for Journalism. In throwback style, ACFJ is presenting Sara Duterte circa 2008 in the eyes of Rene Lumawag.
Lumawag was himself in the spotlight in 2016 with his photo exhibit titled “Rody Duterte: Through the Years” that showcased his 25 years of covering Rodrigo Duterte. –NVP
