The Asian Center for Journalism cordially invites everyone to a mini-forum titled “Photography in Southeast Asia” to be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m at CTC 318, Ateneo de Manila University Loyola Heights Quezon City

The forum features Singaporean writer-artist Zhuang Wubin whose fourth book is also titled “Photography in Southeast Asia: A Survey” (NUS Press, 2016). It offers an overview of the photographic practices in the region, tracking their developments since the late colonial period to the contemporary. With chapters dedicated to ten countries across the region, the book pays special focus on the evolution and contestations of art, conceptual work, photojournalism and documentary photography.

As a guest of the ACFJ, Zhuang will share some of the findings from his book before inviting the audience to join in for an informal discussion on the developments of documentary photography in Manila and elsewhere across Southeast Asia.
