14 February 2013 — In honor of St. Valentine, photojournalist Sheila Nicolas-Red (DPJ, SY 2006-07) holds an outdoor photo exhibit at Ciudad del Carmen Executive Village multi-purpose Unit, Pasig City from 3 to 6 pm today.
Most of the photos in the exhibit show old churches and religious rituals in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines. According to Nicolas, the exhibit’s proceeds will go to the Soup Kitchen project of her community’s 50-year-old parish, Sto. Rosario de Pasig.
Nicolas-Red was an ACFJ scholar when she took the diploma in photojournalism (DPJ) and was among the 12 students in the first batch of the DPJ program. She has done a number of solo exhibits, one of which featured photos of different Philippine fiestas.
The DPJ is a one-year program that is designed to raise the standards of photojournalism and news photography in Asia. The course is composed of seven courses, namely: three core courses, three special courses and a course on final diploma project development.
