Soham Gupta and Richard Dy, photojournalism graduates, will participate in a photography workshop to be held in New Delhi, September 22 to 26.
Gupta and Dy were among the 12 participants chosen by the workshop instructor and Agence Vu photographer Munef Wasif himself, according to an announcement on the Delhi Photo Festival blog. They will work on existing projects as the theme of their group is Work in Progress.
The DPJ alumni will bring to the workshop their final portfolio projects which were presented last June at the Ateneo de Manila University: Blue Flower, Gupta; and Huling Habilin ni Lola (The Last Request of Lola), Dy. Their photo essays focused on the quest for sense of belonging of transgender women in society, and the problems the aging comfort women of the Second World War face, respectively.
Gupta is a freelance photojournalist from India while Dy serves as a news reporter for the Philippine national daily BusinessWorld. They both belong to the eighth batch of the diploma in photojournalism program.
The Work in Progress workshop will be among the 16 training sessions that will coincide with the celebration of Delhi Photo Festival 2013, a biennial gathering being organized by the India Habitat Centre and the Nazar Foundation.
