The application deadline for the Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University’s (ACFJ) Certificate Course in Investigative Journalism has been extended to Wednesday, 23 September 2015.
Certificate Course in Media and Politics is the third stand-alone, fully online course offering of ACFJ for this year. The course is designed at introducing students the skills, methods and techniques of investigative reporting for practicing journalists. It will focus on the search for and use of public documents and computer-assisted methods in reporting on important issues that may fall under the radar of daily journalism. Discussions will also cover the importance of investigative reporting in a democracy and the role of journalists in providing depth and substance to their reporting, in this age of social media.
ACFJ executive director Luz Rimban will handle the course. She is the supervising producer of the ABS-CBN News Channel’s The World Tonight, the Philippines’ longest-running English newscast. Her vast experience in the journalism industry includes serving as broadcast manager for the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism. She is also a trustee and co-founder of VERA Files, an online news organization that seeks to engage in in-depth reporting of current Philippine issues.
