“Asian News in Pictures,” ACFJ’s first exhibit of news photography hits the road again in 2011. Coming from SM City Naga, the travelling exhibit is currently on display at Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro, to run until February 19.
The exhibit at the School of Business Management building lobby coincides with the school’s Social Consciousness Month celebration. From Xavier University, the show will move to Level 2, East Concourse of Limketkai Mall until February 28, to finish its Cagayan de Oro leg.
“Asian News in Pictures” features six photo essays and 25 single pictures – all of them compelling news images of social and development issues and events done by some of the most talented, audacious and passionate among Asia’s contemporary and upcoming photojournalists. The pictures were culled from the works of the students of ACFJ’s photojournalism programs, many of whom among Asia’s most talented photojournalists.
Among them are Rogelio Luis Liwanag, until recently chief photographer of Xinhua News Agency in Manila, VJ Villafranca, winner of 2008 Ian Perry Award in Photojournalism, the PDI photographers:Emilyn Hope Rillon, Remar Zamora and Rafael Lerma, and Rony Zakaria, the Indonesian photographer who won in the 2010 National Press Photography Awards.
