Bukidnon News, Reporting Bukidnon, Our Home, a city-based news agency dedicated to provide timely, accurate, and comprehensive reports on Bukidnon, and its daily online news service, Bukidnon News Disptach (www.bukidnonews.worpress.com), will be formally launched on 19 September 2011 at the Bukidnon State University Ethno-Cultural Museum in Malaybalay.
Through their reportage of citizens inside and outside the province, Bukidnon News aims to empower communities in the province.
Bukidnon News is an initiative of a handful of independent local reporters and correspondents, among them Walter Balane, a student of the Master of Arts in Journalism program administered by ACFJ at the Ateneo de Manila University, with the help of some like mind friends.
Their mission is to inform, educate, and inspire as we freely and responsibly cover Bukidnon’s events, peoples, and issues. They also aspire to establish a cooperative of journalists and information disseminators who believe in the local media’s capacity to be free, professional, responsible, relevant, useful, and nurturing.
Bukidnon is an agriculture-rich but landlocked province in the island of Mindanao, southern Philippines. It has 20 towns, two cities, and 464 barangays.
