MA Journ alumna wins ILO award

Ateneo de Manila University journalism alumna Camille Elemia has won the International Labour Organization’s 2017 Global Media Competition on Labour Migration.

Elemia, who graduated with an M.A. in Journalism in 2016 and works for the online news site Rappler, was one of four winners in the ILO competition and was chosen for her work about undocumented migrant workers in the ASEAN region.

Her in-depth report was produced for the 2017 Reporting Asean fellowship which encourages journalists in Southeast Asia to examine and write about regional issues.

Reporting Asean

Another Rappler reporter, Sofia Tomacruz, was also recognized by the ILO. Tomacruz co-wrote with Ana Santos a series of articles about overseas Filipino workers and the debt problem. Tomacruz was also a contributor to the ACFJ website.
